ABOUT

The Headphoneer is an independent website for reviews of audiophile headphones, headphone amplifiers, DACs, and associated equipment.

It was founded in 2013 after Chris, who initially just called himself Mr. Headphoneer, realized that he had too much headphone-related gear. He was already a year-long participant in the online community of headphones enthusiasts. He decided to use his gear and increasing experience to launch a website where he could be reviewing and comparing high-fidelity headphones and associated equipment. He wanted to write the reviews he often couldn’t find: Thorough reviews, with a focus on comparisons and matching of components, most importantly headphones and amplifiers.

In 2023, Erlend, a fellow enthusiast and friend with a similar background, joined The Headphoneer project and is now an essential contributor.

The Headphoneer team aims to be thorough and subjective in an “objective” way. We try to cut down on the buzzwords and focus on the sound, comparisons, and matching equipment to get the most out of the reviewed gear. We try to describe what shapes our subjective opinions so that the reader can get something more out of our reviews than what we personally think and feel about a product.

All content is the property of and should only be used with permission from The Headphoneer. Most images are taken by us and some are commercial stock photos from the manufacturers.

DONATIONS

The Headphoneer has been an independent website run by a single enthusiast for 10 years with no income whatsoever. It’s not sustainable, thus we have recently started to experiment with various forms of income to support the page. We would like to avoid ads and commercials.

Currently we have the option to donate using this link:

AFFILIATE LINKS

We are also experimenting with Amazon affiliate links, which are links that give us a commission from purchases made after clicking the links. In other words: As an Amazon Associate, The Headphoneer earn from qualifying purchases. We also use Linsoul links where appropriate, to give readers a choice and easily check prices.

Using affiliate links will give you the same prices, however the store will share some of their profits with us.

It is important to mention that we get NO earnings from returned items, thus we have incentives only to recommend good stuff.

We write is to make honest and thorough reviews that our readers can resonate with and that they find trustworthy and good enough to return to The Headphoneer.

That being said, running this site costs money, and if you need anything, please feel free to use our links or leave a donation.

It is important for us to say that us trying to make a small income doesn’t influence the essence of our reviews – at least we believe so ourselves. We are, honestly, always honestly honest and we’re trying hard to be subjectively balanced in an objectively confusing way – as we always have worked hard to be. Listen to us at your own risk. Anyway: You should never trust reviews!
